Biography

Principal Lecturer, Course Leader (BA Film Production), Section Lead (Film)

Ben has 12 years’ experience as a Lecturer in the Television & Film sector and is currently Course Leader for BA (Hons) Film Production, which has been accredited by SceenSkills (formerly Creative Skillset) since 2012.

Ben also has extensive experience as a Broadcast Television Lighting Cameraman for a whole range of UK and international broadcasters, independent production companies, corporate clients and charities including BBC, ITV, Endemol, BSKYB, Disney, Granada, RDF, shooting news, TV factual, documentaries, live TV shows, drama, music videos, commercials and corporate productions. Ben is also an experienced Steadicam Operator. 

Ben formally had the role of Head of Production/Producer-Director for an independent production company based in Central London, where he produced documentaries, branded content and business programming for leading UK and International clients, brands and charities filming projects extensively in UK, Europe and US.

Ben is a full member of GTC (The Guild of Television Camera Professionals), which is an international organisation that represents experienced camera professionals in all areas of film, television and broadcasting.

Research

My current research by practice involves the production of digital short film projects and digital cinematography – producing short drama and documentary.

Recent projects:

All About Dad short documentary film exploring the stories of three nontraditional dads as they journey into fatherhood. The film identifies the realities and experiences of three subjects as they strive to become a father in modern society. This was presented the form of  live action interviews inter-cut with animation.

Current projects: 

I am currently in development of a new documentary film which centres around girls football – grass roots to the professional game in collaboration with BBC Sport.
